Today we take a look at what 2022 has in store in terms of product availability and pricing.

Over the last two years, we had a lot of ups and downs in the tech world. The pandemic, global material shortage, soaring GPU prices, and the list goes on. Let’s break this down and see where we are at the moment and what our prediction is for the rest of 2022.

The COVID pandemic really influenced all industries and also caused a huge delay with imports and exports. With that said a lot of countries have started to move away from masks and returned back to normal. So in that regard customs can return to normal operation and speed up imports and exports of products.

With the whole global material shortage and the huge surge in cryptocurrency, we saw a big increase in pricing and obviously, this has led to a massive shortage of products. Not just GPUs, but also a shortage of CPUs, laptops, RAM and the list goes on. On the subject of DDR5 we are slowly seeing more options become available and this, in turn, brings the pricing down.  Also with cryptocurrency coming down in price and Ethereum moving from proof of work to proof of stake that will make GPU mining basically useless.

A plethora of new products will also be released this year. Nvidia and AMD will bring out their new GPUs. Nvidia will be launching Lovelace which is a lot faster than the current Ampere architecture. Intel will also come into the GPU market this year and we are super excited to see what they have been working on the last couple of years. AMD will launch new CPUs this year on a new AM5 platform with DDR5 support and their new 3D V-cache. Intel will be launching new more refined CPUs with their new P-cores/E-cores.

Taking all this into consideration we are bound to see stock availability increase and pricing slowly come down to normal. We can clearly see that new stock is starting to come down in price. Our prediction for 2022 is that everything will slowly return to normal with a whole stack of new products inbound and you as our clients can reap the benefits of this.
